Arrive at the Johannesburg Airport and check in for your flight to Cape Town. Arrive in Cape Town where you will be met by your driver/guide and transferred to your hotel, the Commodore Hotel, conveniently located on the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Check into your standard room for 3 nights on Bed & Breakfast basis. Enjoy a free evening, with dinner on your own.
Saturday, October 28, 2017 – Cape Town – Table Mountain/City Tour/Hout Bay
After breakfast, visit Table Mountain via the Cable Car (weather permitting), the World’s new Seventh Wonder, or visit Signal Hill (if weather does not permit travel in the Cable Car). Visit Jewel Africa for a diamond cutting demonstration. You will also find exquisitely unique hand crafted jewelry pieces, authentic African craft, décor and gift items. Take a City Tour and see some of the highlights of this beautiful Mother City including Bo-Kaap or “Malay Quarter”, a living cultural museum. Your guide will recommend one of the local restaurants for lunch (on your own). Next will be a visit to the Original T-Bag Designs, a local community project in Hout Bay, before heading to Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden for exploration. Your guide will drop you off at your hotel. Enjoy a free evening, with dinner on your own.
Sunday, October 29, 2017 – Cape Town – Cape Point
After breakfast depart from your hotel and travel along the beautiful coast and the spectacular Chapman’s Peak drive. Visit Cape Point, the most south-western point of the African Continent. Walk to the top of the mountain and enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean and the surrounding area. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant overlooking False Bay, (on your own). After lunch, visit the local African Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach. On your way back to town, stop in Simons Town, South Africa’s Naval Base, to visit the statue of “Just Nuisance” and hear the story about this legend. Your guide will drop you off at your hotel. Enjoy a free evening, with dinner on your own.
Monday, October 30, 2017 – Cape Town – Winelands
After breakfast, depart for a Full-Day Winelands Tour. Visit this beautiful part of the Western Cape and enjoy all it has to offer. Journey to the small town of Franschhoek for a visit to the Huguenot Museum. You will then see the Taal Monument in Paarl from where you will have beautiful views of the surrounding areas. Visit a local wine estate to taste some of their local cheeses and wines. Enjoy lunch at the local restaurant (on your own). You will then travel to Stellenbosch, South Africa's second oldest town, for an afternoon to explore the shops and meander through this quaint town. Return to the Commodore Hotel for a free evening and dinner on your own.
Tuesday, October 31, 2017 – Kapama Private Game Reserve in Greater Kruger – 3 Nights
After an early breakfast, check out of your hotel and be transferred to the Cape Town Airport. Check in for your flight from Cape Town to Hoedspruit in the Greater Kruger Park. Upon arrival at the Hoedspruit Airport, be met by your game ranger and transferred in your open safari vehicle to the Kapama River Lodge in the Kapama Private Game Reserve. Check into your standard suite for 3 nights. Enjoy lunch and your first game drive that afternoon.
Wednesday & Thursday, November 1 & 2, 2017 – Kapama Private Game Reserve
Expect an early wake-up call. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with a rusk before departing for your morning game drive. This is probably the most beautiful part of the day - experiencing the early morning in the African Bush and seeing the sunrise. Stop along the way for some tea, coffee, or hot chocolate and rusks. Return to the lodge for breakfast. During the day, there is ample free time to go on a guided walking safari, sunbathe by the pool, or participate in optional activities at your own cost. In the late afternoon, convene for high tea before departing for the day’s second African bush safari. Enjoy a sundowner drink along the way, get out of the vehicle to stretch your legs and watch the sunset over the distant Drakensberg Mountains. As darkness descends, continue the game drive while the tracker scans the landscape with a spotlight to pick out the glinting eyes of nocturnal animals. Return to the lodge for dinner.
Each of the full days at the Private Game Reserve will include all meals and twice daily game drives. Your highly-qualified safari ranger will drive you through Kapama's Private Game Reserve in a ten-passenger, topless land rover vehicle with the help of a skilled tracker to optimize your game viewing experience. Although the leopard can be elusive, you will have the possibility of seeing the Big Five - lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo - and be able to witness their way of life.
Friday, November 3, 2017 – Johannesburg – 1 Night
Enjoy your last game drive in Kapama Game Reserve. After breakfast, check out of the lodge and be transferred to the Hoedspruit Airport by your game ranger. Check in for your flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival in Johannesburg at the O.R. Tambo International Airport, collect your luggage and walk to the City Lodge O.R. Tambo which is conveniently located next to the airport. Check in for 1 night on Bed & Breakfast basis. Dinner is on your own.
Saturday, November 4, 2017 - Victoria Falls – 2 nights – B/D
After breakfast check in for your flight from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls. Be sure to have your $30.00 in cash to pay for your Zimbabwe visa when you arrive at the Victoria Falls Airport. Be met at the airport and transferred to the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge to check in for 2 nights. You can order a light lunch at the Lodge (on your own). In the afternoon, travel to the Zambezi River for an unforgettable luxury Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi Royal. Enjoy the abundant wildlife and the beautiful sunset scenes. Wine and savory refreshments will be served along the way. Return to the lodge for dinner served at 7:00 pm.
Sunday, November 5, 2017 – Victoria Falls
Enjoy your breakfast overlooking the waterhole below the lodge. You might see various animals visit the waterhole. After breakfast, tour the spectacular Victoria Falls. Visit the local craft market, then be transferred to the Lookout Point for lunch (cost included in itinerary – drinks on own). You will also have the opportunity to participate in some optional activities on your own account, such as the gorge swing or the Flying Fox. Be returned to the lodge for an afternoon at your leisure. During your stay at this lodge, you will meet with a local historian who will tell you the story of David Livingstone. At 7:00 pm, be transferred to the Boma for an enjoyable and festive evening with a traditional dinner and live entertainment. Return to the lodge for overnight.
Monday, November 6, 2017 – Chobe, Botswana – 2 Nights
After breakfast and check out, be picked up from the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge to be transferred across the border to the Elephant Valley Lodge in Chobe where you will check in for 2 nights. Enjoy lunch before departing for your afternoon game activity, a sunset boat cruise on the Chobe River. You will have the chance of seeing copious game such as hippos, elephants, and crocodile, as well as abundant bird life. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Tuesday, November 7, 2017 – Chobe
Get up early for your morning game drive in the Chobe National Park. The Chobe National Park is known for its large number of elephants and for its prolific bird life. Your will also see other game, including the Puku, an antelope endemic to this region. Return to your lodge for breakfast. Enjoy the day relaxing around the pool that overlooks the waterhole. After lunch and a rest, depart for your afternoon sunset boat cruise on the Chobe River. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Wednesday, November 8, 2017 – Departure Day
In the morning, enjoy a morning boat cruise on the Chobe River. You are bound to see elephant and other game on the banks of the river, and hippos in the water. Photographic opportunities are fabulous for this portion of the trip. Return to the lodge for breakfast before checking out and departing for the airport. Check in for your flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival in Johannesburg, check in for your flight back to the U.S.A.
