ITALY
Il Castelfafi, in Tuscany, is a medieval village that is now filled with shops and restaurants and anchors the 2700-acre Toscana Resort Castelfalfi Resort. In April, the 5-star 120-room Il Castelfalfi Hotel will be added. Built to be energy efficient with biomass heating and water and food waste recycling, this new hotel will feature a spa, restaurant and guests will have access to the exiting golf course, a cooking school and a winery! Rooms will start at around $300 euros per night.
SWITZERLAND
On a mountain ridge above Lake Lucerne, the Buergenstock Resort Lake Lucerne is going to replace three old hotels with a 21st-century health resort set on 148 acres. Two of the four new properties will open during the spring with an amazing 13 restaurants and bars, a golf course, three tennis courts and 43 miles of walking trails. In fact, by the end of 2017, the other two hotels will be open and will include a 160-room doctor-staffed wellness lodge! Guests will only be able to reach the resort by funicular because its completely car-free. Rooms will start at at about $150 Swiss francs per night.
FIJI
Only 21 rooms will be available to share the private 140-acre Kokomo Island, a small luxury hotel that is scheduled to open in March. The Great Astrolabe Reef encircles the island and an on-site dive center will equip underseas explorers. Each villa will have its own plunge pool and the resort will feature two restaurants and a tennis court. Rooms begin at a mere $1799 per night.
ST. KITTS
Scheduled to open in Summer 2017, Park Hyatt St. Kitts will open overlooking the southern strait that separates it from its sister island of Nevis. has 78 rooms and 48 suites housed in a series of dwellings which form an arc around the resort. Each of the accommodations face towards Banana Bay and have either a private balcony or terrace. Invigorating rain showers prepare you for the day’s activities and deep soaking tubs allow you to relax and unwind before sinking into lush white linens and puffy pillows for a peaceful nights rest. Some of the suites offer private swimming pools and sundecks with spectacular views of the neighboring, cloud-capped Nevis island. The Resort is also home to a three-bedroom presidential villa with private infinity pool, gym and games room. Rooms will be offered at starting prices of $380 per night.
Indonesia
Inspired by traditional villages in the rice-terraced region of Ubud, the Hoshinoya Bali will open this month. Villas will each feature their own plunge pool and line canal-like swimming pools that reference area irrigation systems. The spa will offer twice-daily yoga classes and the restaurant will prepare Balinese-Japanese fare. Guests will can meditate in terraces elevated amid the palm canopy. An amazing luxury value with rooms beginning at just $671 per night.
